Validus’ Batumbu and WIR Group Launch CSR Initiative to Educate Children on Tech Awareness at Jambore Yayasan Sahabat Anak
Singapore/Jakarta, July 23, 2024 – Validus’ Indonesian arm, Batumbu, in collaboration with WIR Group, hosted Yayasan Sahabat Anak (YSA) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to educate children on tech awareness in celebration of National Children’s Day on July 23rd.
During the visit, Reza Perazi Armadi, Deputy CEO of Batumbu, and Jeffrey Budiman, Director of WIR Group welcomed Frisca Hutagalung, Director of YSA. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, themed “Technology for Children: Inspiring a Bright Future,” reflects Batumbu and WIR Group’s commitment to improving children’s welfare and technological awareness in Indonesia while supporting the country’s financial inclusion efforts. The event aimed to provide educational experiences and highlight the importance of technology in enhancing children’s learning and creativity.
According to data from the Indonesian Internet Service Users Association (APJII), internet usage among children aged 5-12 is 62.43%, while for those aged 13-18 it reaches 99.16%. With such high engagement, there is a strong push to promote interactive learning, develop problem-solving and creativity skills, and use technology to explore beyond their immediate surroundings. Understanding technology early prepares children for a digital future.
Reza Perazi Armadi, Deputy CEO of Batumbu, said, “We appreciate WIR Group’s initiative in advancing children’s rights through technology. This program aligns with our vision of fostering an ecosystem that supports holistic child development. We hope to continue developing children’s technical skills, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities in the digital era. This program will positively impact the national economy and improve financial inclusion.”
Jeffrey Budiman, Director of WIR Group, added, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Batumbu and Yayasan Sahabat Anak for this CSR program. Technology plays a crucial role in shaping children’s futures. Through this initiative, we aim to inspire and support their ongoing learning and development.”
Emerging technologies like AR, VR, AI, and blockchain have significant potential in child development, offering immersive and interactive learning experiences, personalized education programs, and enhanced protection of children’s digital identities. These technologies not only aid in developing technical skills but also prepare children for a tech-integrated future.
The visit to WIR Group Headquarters included demonstrations of products such as Smart machines from DAV, Markerless AR from AR&Co, and Nusameta’s metaverse ecosystem. Batumbu and WIR Group also participated in Jambore Sahabat Anak (JSA) XXVI, a 2-day camp organized by YSA to celebrate National Children’s Day and promote the Gerakan Sahabat Anak campaign.
